For the first time in 4 years, I’m going on a real holiday, one of those bizarre periods of time that apparently involve not doing any work. For the first time in even longer, probably at least 10 years, I plan not to be on-line at all during that time. There’s been a regime building up to this important milestone; at first some evenings went by without checking e-mail, then even entire weekends, so I think I’m ready – it’s time.
I’m really looking forward to spending some quality time with earhart, and in a totally new departure for me – learning to Ski. Taking a week without thinking about work or college at all should do me a world of good, and hopefully I’ll come back refreshed and prepared to take on both again at full speed. But if you’re looking for me next week, that’s where I am – I’ll have my phone with me for genuine emergencies, but that should be it.
As part of the prep work for a ski-trip, I decided to buy a ski jacket rather than borrow one, and was amazed at the service I got from Port West. I ordered an excellent, breathable, fleece-lined, dozens-of-pockets-having high quality jacket at 11 AM on a Thursday, and it was delivered less than 24 hours later, for only €76 including delivery, which seems to be at most half what I would have otherwise paid in a shop. Already it’s turned out to be useful, as we’ve been having blizzard-like conditions in TCD this week. Highly recommended!
